My coolant temperature sensor fell out of the car last night while I was driving uphill doing about 45mph ~3krpms. Coolant sprayed all over the road.
On p.102 of the PET they have the diagram. Part #24 is a retainer clip which holds the sensor in place, it is the olive green clip in the picture of my vehicle. It actually seems quite flimsy for such an essential element. I wanted to know if this has happened to anyone else? I recently changed the coolant so perhaps I bent the clip imperceptibly? When I replaced the sensor I cannot wiggle it off
Those clips have been holding the sensors in place on VR6's for 30 years. I have never heard of one failing.
Thanks for the info I just got this car a few months ago and changed the coolant last month. Maybe I somehow didn't attach it fully and it was just hanging on for a month? I'm getting a new one in any case.
