I had to replace one of my headlight ballasts on my 957, so I need to take it in to get the new ballast programmed to the car. Since I have to pay for at least half an hour of time, I figure I might as well have them do some additional coding while they're at it.
Apparently coding the instrument cluster to UK (instead of US) gets rid of the annoying chime when the door is open and the key is in the ignition?
Can I disable the DRLs?
I hear programming new keys is a dealer only thing, even if the (non-dealer) shop has PIWIS. Is this true?
Anything else I might want them to tweak while they're in there?
Programming a key needs the PIWIS and the IPAS code which is supposedly strictly controlled by the mother ship in Germany. There used to be a Russian guy who would get you your IPAS code for $50 although that avenue may no longer be available. Some people have managed to sweet talk their IPAS code out of the dealer, probably if they have a good relationship with that dealer.
