Question MICHELIN -v- PIRELLI

Anyone have experience of Michelin Diamaris road tyres? I'm wondering about using them to replace the current Pirelli Rosso's (275/45ZR19) which have around 2mm to go to the wear indicators having covered 10000 miles so far. I've had no problem with the Rosso's but the Michelins seem a lot cheaper - maybe this tells a story........

Default Pirrelli

I too have the Pzero Rosso, but go a full 20K on them. The fronts are to the indicator and the rears probably have about 3k miled on them.

I was pretty happy, and just ordered a new set, mounted, balanced, and alignment of the Cayenne S (19") is costing me about $1375.

I don't know much about the Michelin, but the dealer was trying to sell me the Contis said they were quieter, but did not know about the miles I could get out of them. I had the contis on my 996TT and was not very happy having to change them after only 10k miles.

You must be towing the car around - how in earth are you getting near 20k out of your tyres? I have priced Diamris and they come out at £632 for set fitted (around $1100). Just not sure about them though as the only place I can get them is through a national supermart chain as opposed to a tyre dealer. Not sure how 'trained' they are on tyres, fitments and fitting!!! I'll wait a while longer and see if anything else comes up.

Default 20k miles

My wife is the primary drivr of the Cayenne and she drives approximately 100 highway miles per day. Average highway speed around 75mph. I occasionally drive the Cayenne on the weekend with the family, so I don't drive as aggressively as I would want. Maybe its the highway miles that allow better tire wear.

Damn, maybe your wife could come over and chauffer for me!!! Anyway, I have opted to stay with Rosso's - found a set of four for £654 from a specialist dealer who couldn't find a Porsche CS approved listing for Diamaris. Lot of mixed info here so I reckon I'll stick with the same.

I have 20" Porsche Design Wheels with Michelin Diamaris (same rubber found on the Carrera GT! ). They perform great. I've only used them for only a few thousand miles (Summer use only). I use the 18" CT wheels with Dunlop M2 for Winter. So far so good!
