My Cayenne S has been down due to immobilizer active. Where i live in the world doesnt have access to a scanner that can be used to deactivate the problem. So ive been searching for any hacks that can be attempted at home. The problem originated while i was traveling and the car was parked. Unbeknowst to me people decided to leave the after market stereo on and 3 months later when i returned the car had a dead battery. Upon charging the immobilizer active is the only life i see. Also i only have 1 key. I did try a scanner here but it didnt allow the imb to be turned off.
I am searching for any way I can take the kessey system out and have use of my car again.

Which part of the world does not have scanners, beside the obvious ones where there are no Porsches like the South pole and Mt. Everest?

There is really not an option to just "take the kessey system out". You need to read the codes and possibly live data to know where to start. Vagcom (with OBD pin 3 moved to position 15 on the DLC), Durametric or Piwis is the way to go. From what i hear, Thinkdiag is a cheaper solution for the first year after activation, but I cannot personally confirm this.

One thing to try may be to lift the carpet on the driver side (LHD cars) and check the dreaded splices under the fabric tape. If the carpet is wet under there this may be an issue. Lots of YouTube videos about this.

Close to SPole in the land of Honduras. I fell in love with 3 things. The Woman of my Dreams.... A land of beauty and opportunity and a 2006 Porsche Cayenne S that i cant drive anymore. We have scanners but due to my lack of knowledge i am reliant on others for the help here.. There is an issue with shipping here and items take very long to arrive if at all.
I have looked into Durametric and it appears one of my laptops will run their software.. I will try and source a obd2 connection. I am hoping they are universal.
I have not checked the carpet yet but I will today. Im keeping my fingers crossed for this. I really miss driving this car. Hahaa.
Thanks for the advice. I will keep uodating as i have info.

I hate to say this, because I really appreciate this company, but there are really cheap clones availiable. I do not know about shipping to Honduras, but if you search Aliexpress for "vw hex v2" you will find hardware that probably will work well in your application (with a little bit of tweaking) for less than USD 40.-. The original interface has dual k-lines and I think the clones has only one? So you need to switch pin 7 on the interface to pin 7 (for drivetrain modules) or 3 (for other modules) on the DLC (OBD2 connector in car).

i got a replacement Kessy module, and was able to enter the VIN to the eeprom, but it looks like the security code is encrypted
I ran out of interest in doing any more work on it
the reason the car wouldn't run is the instrument cluster also has the code
i used specialised ECU repair in the US, and although their turnaround time and service wasn't great, i'm back up and running

russr, did ecu specialist give a reason for the failure besides "it is the kessy module" ? Like what in the module fails, how they repaired?

nope, although from my own experimentation, the EEPROM that holds the security code was blank on my original KESSY module (tested it as soon as I pulled it from the car) and only wrote to a 'known good' one.

From my understanding, they have a Cayenne front cut, where they fit your ECU/ELV/KESSY, program it, and replace parts as required. The ELV is single-use for encoding, so they provide a replacement. They also gave me replacement keyfobs programmed to my replacement KESSY (but fitted with my original blades). I'm happy with the outcome. Although the turnaround time was frustrating, it's still going strong and has a warranty.

Substantially better than the local dealer who quoted $8k 'parts only and no guarantees'

I spoke with them via whatsap. The gentleman was very helpful but, as I would do the same, needs the modules etc to help. I was attempting to find a normal problem and it does seem, more than not, the kessy loses the coding. So....b4 sending to them we are trying to find someone here that can read the eprom. Not easy in this part of the world. I have educated many that they cannot read the ECU with the immobilizer active but there has to be a communication issue because they don't get it.....for that matter I'm not happy about the original engineer either, lol. My understanding is that this system was designed for avg. 200k vehicles, so great we have a terrific anti theft system. I'm ecstatic. I'll post what we are able to get done......ugh. Now is a year

I gave up on trying to find someone to read it with a diagnostic tool, its not possible with anything that isnt the genuine dealer tool.

i bought an EEPROM reader from ebay and some test leads and used the supplied (very suspect) chinese software on a computer i wiped after.

hi

much appreciate the efforts shared and the great educational value.

my problem started while i was removing a bunch of unwanted cabling from behind the dashboard (japanese car) and there are two issues which came up.

1) i pulled hard on some of the cables which were routed underneath the speedometer so i'm not sure if because of that i disturbed some of the cables to the kessy unit.

2) the mistake i made when trying to remove the interior trim around the ignition lock, i mistakenly took the ring around the lock for the ring behind the cover and tried to break it loose with a hammer & chisel (only the plastic ring).

after all the ignition key problem came up as well as immobilizer active.

on another cayenne i soldered back together the loose cable in the foot well and it fixed the ignition key problem, here i did the same but the error messages are still the same.

appreciate advise if directly removing the kessy and/or something else to send it to ecu doctor to fix it or are there additional steps to be taken to investigate this further.

Thank you.

The instrument cluster has the security code recorded in it too, so might be worth checking its all connected

Thanks.

went through this exercise with my other cayenne of taking the whole dash apart, trying to find whatever cables come from where as well as trying to find the fibre optics -- which the 2009 doesn't have but the 2007 (the one with the problems now).

i tried scanning with my Launch 431 but OBD has no power, another mystery.

on ecu doctor i saw cost roughly 700 bucks plus shipping. i also found another ecu doctor in the UK, but I'm like you -- wilt tinker around until it doesn't make any sense anymore and spend the money to get it done.

appreciate
