Can someone tell me what the noise is that I hear when I open the driver's side door to my '03 Cayenne S? It sounds like a small electric motor that runs for about 2 seconds. And another question, when I open the rear hatch (not the glass part) but the entire hatch, is it supposed to be able to raise itself all the way open? I have alway's needed to help mine and push it to get it to open all of the way.

 

The noise you get from the door is normal, we all get it. I don't know why, but you can go to some of the old forums where I guess it's posted.

About the rear hatch, On mine I would need to give it a little push, about 1/4 of the way up, and then it rises itself automatically. if yours does the same then I think that would be normal too.

 

the noise you here is, I believe, the fuel system in pre-flight.

 

My rear hatch would only open about 75% by itself. I would then have to lift it the rest of the way. Had dealer look at it and he said the lifts were defective. They replaced them and now I just have to open it and give it a small upperward lift and it opens completely by itself.

If any doubts have your dealer look at it.

I have have to open my rear hatch otherwise it wont open by itself... and that motor your talking about is the engine fan I believe
