Talking Autocrossing

While my Turbo 3.6 is in the shop, my friend let me drive his Cayenne S at yesterday's NNJR autocross. Here are pics from when I took 4 friends for a run.

(Btw, I think I beat 1/2 the field with this thing. It defies physics. Spring suspension, too...)

I missed the first Auto-X of the season, how did that happen!!! Dang, I was hpme and everything!! I think I would have the taken the Boxster S over the Cayenne S, since I don't have a turbo that is in the shop. How was the auto-x were there a lot of people?

As the owner of said Cayenne S, I agree with the good Dr. Jupeman, it defies physics. We had an absolute blast!

We had a number of Cayennes show up at least season's AX events. They always did well in their lap times, and always impressed whoever drove them. I think we managed to sell a few just by bringing one to the track!

And it actually snowed that day. Ahhh, white out conditions in May. Gotta love it.

I just returned from Barber Motorsports and the Cayenne PDE. Here is a photo of us autocrossing a Cayenne. The Honda Racing trucks in the background had motorcycles that were waiting for their turn on the track.

Auto Cross a Cayenne - ?? This looks serious. Any comments about getting a tippy over feeling? What type of tires?

Tippy over feeling? No, not at all! You can drive as fast as you want in a Cayenne on the autocross or the racetrack, with steel or air suspension, and it is always well composed and predictable up to, and past, the limits of adhesion. In the photo above, this is a Cayenne S on steel suspension and 20" Michelin Diamaris. The Cayenne is very much at home on the track. There may still be some Porsche DE's where the Cayenne would not be welcome but, the truth is, it would not have a problem competing.
