My power points are always live, how do i make them turn off with the ignition?
We use a plug in charger / bluetooth adaptor in the lighter / power point socket. Its live when the truck is off, and flashing all night long.
I dont want to kill a battery, is there an easy way to make it switch off when turning off the vehicle? I tried the one for the rear seats too, also live 24/7.
In my mercedes W211 its as simple as moving a fuse over 1 notch.

I've been looing into this myself. Right now, it's coming down to installing a small relay that will will close the circuit to one of the under dash power port when the ignition is turned on (when the relay sees power). If I can find a circuit to tap into for that relay to power it up this will work great. I'm not sure if there is an easier way.
Maybe another member has done this before and give us both a few pointers.

Guys, just tap into a fuse or a line that only becomes active when the ignition is on.

If you did not want to modify the SUV at all, you could probably build a small circuit that detects the alternator noise and turns on/off a transistor when it's detected.
Perhaps a less attractive but easier solution, a low voltage shutoff module is available:
It might be reliable if a point can be determined that the voltage does not drop below with everything turned on and the engine running that is still above the resting voltage of the battery with the key off.
A healthy battery might show over 12.8v on the bench but in-circuit it might never get above 12.6v.
I'd personally prefer to tap into something that maintains courtesy power for a bit, particularly if it's used for audio and you want it to keep working for a short time after key-off.

I dislike having the ashtray open to use the 12v socket and didn't want to run other accessories 24/7, even with dual batteries.
both left and right fuseboxes have tons of unused ignition switched fuses. I ran an ignition switched power from the right fusebox to a 12v triple socket, and taped it to the right side of the center console. Wires could be tucked easily under the glovebox so it looks clean.
you need standard size fuse tap, about 6 ft wire and 12v socket. No affiliation for items below
Occasionally I still use ashtray 12v socket since it is useful for charging phone and cameras while camping.

- fuse tap
- 12v triple socket with usb charging ports
- some wire
- crimping tool I use

My current dashcam is wired into my fused box, but I bought a new one that came with a cigarette plug. The first dash came power source isn't powering the new one. Therefore I've to wire a female cigarette socket, and most likely I'll put it next to the two lives ones under the dash. This...

I *am* looking to have all power points turn off when the key is pulled out. Power live when key off ign on.
That is the goal. All my other vehicles the outlets are off with the vehicle.
