I can totally relate to your fears and have the same concerns myself sometimes. HOWEVER, I think the real truth is that people that hire a consultant really want someone who is successful (which implies they are good). I say drive the Porsche and enjoy it - why waste money on a second car just to show you're poor when you could save that money to buy a 996 TT later!?! At the same time, you can be humble about it and when people ask (they will) just humbly tell them you always wanted a Porsche and you're happy to make a little sacrifice to be able to drive one. After all, it is a Cayenne, not a $150K loaded TT.

Just my $0.02.

To consider the same type of vehicle like a toureg or
X5 or X3 is a waste of funds. you will have how much tied
up in two vehicles of the same type for the same job??
You should choose a completey different vehicle to do the job
you want it to do unless you have cash to throw away.
I like Colms suggestion. the VW R32. But a Cayenne and
a toureg is not a wise use of money IMHO. It would be analogous
to having a pickup and then buying another pickup because I dont
want to use my first one like a truck. Just doesnt make sense to me.

You know I have the same struggle driving just a Cayenne V6 to church. But then I praise God daily for His wonderful blessing!!

Colm had a good car for ya with his R32 idea... though they aren't the quickest of cars out there, the GTi series has always been a group of fun-to-drive cars. I haven't been able to drive one of the R32s yet and have only seen a couple on the street (though I liked how it felt on me at the auto show). Colm, do you own one?

Anywho... why not drive the Porsche? I might not have the money to afford your Cayenne, but I can at least see it's meant to be the daily driver of the Porsche family... owning a 996TT might be a different story, but a Porsche SUV has to be driven... who's with me? Like the R32, I haven't had the pleasure to drive a Cayenne yet. I'm still not fully swayed by it yet, though I believe once I DO drive one... my opinion might just change

You're in a delightfully stressing situation... I hope to someday have the same problem.

Yes I own one , along with a few Porsches.

Trust me, the R 32 is worth every penny and more and more fun to drive every day (as it's broken in), it's 1/3 the price of a Porsche and more than 1/2 the car.

However, if I could only have one car..it would be a Porsche

jcnesq,

I agree with what you are saying, based on my experience I feel that driving a Ferrari to work as a consultant is a bit much, but I guess a Porsche is a bit different

Yah, its kinda wierd. I think that I may just find a car to drive around and let them drive me. I probably find a certified bmw or something. Maybe a volvo. That way I will not have to worry about it. The mini-cooper is nice, but its too much of a woman car no matter how you look at it.

LOL... I'm not sure if that's more of a compliment to the VDub or Porsches!

I'll drink to that!
