Default 2004 Cayenne Turbo- P Selector Issue?

Hi Guys, I just got home and put it into Park and turned the car off. It won't release the key and it says put the selector into P. Its not reading that it is in Park, I have turned the car back on and moved Gear selector numerous times to try and engage sensor but it is still not allowing me to take the key out of the ignition. Can anyone tell me what this might be?

Thanks

Simple things first, have you had the shifter recall done? I would've thought you would have had issues before now, but it's possible that bushing they replace is holding the shifter too far out to engage the sensor. If you have had the recall done then maybe it's just the sensor as you suggest. The center console has a bazillion little fasteners, but with some patience, it's not too bad to disaassemble to check the shifter.

I have only owned the car for 2 weeks, not sure about whether the shifter recall was done! Will check it out.

Thanks
