Problem to start
Hello all,
My Cayenne -04 S has had a lazy starter for ages, and today, it stopped starting. The battery is 2 years old and has been charged full. The volt meter is showing 12v, and if I try to start, I hear click, and volts stay the same.
Is there any other possible issues , or is it the starter motor. I would like be sure before I order a new starter.
Thanks in advance,

Do you have the optional rear extra battery? Although it sounds like the starter if the voltage doesn't drop.
As I'm sure you know from experience, when the battery is low, the attempt at starting brings the level down to zero and all of the signs of life from the instrument cluster go away temporarily. Then after releasing the key, things come back to life and the little HVAC motors behind the dash come back to life and make noise etc.

Thanks for the input,
I actually got some time, and took my Durometric and connected it. There was all sort of codes related to low voltage, I presume.
After clearing all the codes, I tried starting it, and it made again "click" sound. After couple of attempts it started rotating the motor, but did not start. After couple of attempts it started, and now is running normally. After wormup, it started normally. I´ll see tomorrow if it starts after a night, It is not particularly cold, but -10 celsius is probable. I would still like to know if there is something else causing the lazy start, then new starter? It has been like that for a year now, and usually I will need to turn key twice. Even with the battery full, even in the summer.

Hi,
sorry forgot to answer: No rear battery, Air suspension. I should probably get a new battery again. Luckily we can still change it ourselves for these old ones.
I just discussed batteries with my brother the other day, and he said there are big differences how much batteries can load charge. So even with efficient charger, it could be that battery does not have time to charge during short commute.
It seems I should get a new starter too. It has been driven already 280k km.
