Talking Pictures about XM Radio, Bluetooth handsfree, mudflaps and more

Finally I managed to spare some time to take pictures.

The pictures are here http://sportscarfanatic.com/pictures/cayenne1/

They display;

XM Radio installation,
- The base unit is in the left rear empty space opposite to the CD changer
- The glass mounted antenna is just above that
- The controller unit is in the sunglass holder compartment
- The connection to PCM is via built in FM modulator.
- The freq and line in volume can be changed from the control unit in the sunglass holder
- It's a Pioneer model
- 81 BPM is the best channel!

Bluetooth handsfree system,
- The YES / NO buttons left of the PCM unit
- The microphone next to the sunglass holder
- The advantage to this system is (Parrot K3000, available at www.expansys.us), that it uses bluetooth wireless technology to connect to your mobile phone. Which means you don't need any cables to connect your phone to the handsfree system.
- System also connects to PCM for mute function when you call someone or answer a call
- When you change your phone, if your new phone is also bluetooth compatible, you won't need to change anything, just continue to use your new phone with the system!

Ericsson P900 holder/charger
- This is NOT a part of the bluetooth system, it just holds and charges the phone using a regular ligther charger
- Holder is attached to a custom bracket (I can't remember the brand of the bracket)

Mudflaps
- Any Cayenne owner who resptects their car and other people's cars should have these. (really good in snow and mud)

Snowtires and wheels (factory set)
- They are worth it, buy them!

Cargo area improvements
- Net combo
- Plastic mat (compatible with the net combo)
- They work pretty well!

Paint peeling off from the volume and mute streering wheel buttons
- Dealer is changing this under warranty.

Thanks for reading!

sportscarfanatic, good job. How do you connect phone handfree kits to PCM mute?

There is a mute OUT on the handsfree kit, a simple cable, you need to connect that to the mute IN on the PCM rear connection. I can't remember the pin number for that unfortunately.

sportscarfanatic, thanks. So PCM does have a mute in the rear of the head unit. BTW, do I need to disconnect battery to install a handfree kit?

A friend of mine who works for a pro Audio store. He only charged me $100 plus $29 for the XM Radio hardware. (yes only $29, it was a discountinued model at Best Buy!) And another $30 for the antenna.

So for the total of $159 I have a nice XM Radio system. He did the install for the bracket for the cell phone and bluetooth system at the same time, included in the same fee.

The Parrot CK3000 is available at www.expansys.us http://www.expansys-usa.com/product.asp?code=PAR_CK3000 for $185

The bracket is a Panavise 75132-203 mounting plate, http://www.panavise.com/f/comm/indas...rtn=75132-203. It costs $30. It is shown in the linked post.

How is the controller unit is in the sunglass holder compartment working for you?

I'm going to install the Music Keg, and they bodyshop suggested to attach the controller unit on the ashtray from the outside.

I like the sunglass holder better, but do you keep it open at all the times? Or you can close it once you've chosen your music.

Thanks

It works great, you can leave it closed after you choose your music.
