According to user manual, 20000 miles for the first minor service? This is different from my C4s. Is that true? When you guys do the oil change?

My manual and dealer said that 20,000 miles or 1 year is oil change time. Of course, you should check the oil level from time to time and add very carefully so as not to overfill. Ain't synthetic oils wonderful......LOL.

This thread has to be a freak of nature
There hasn't been a single post threatening doom, gloom and premature engine rebuilds based on such a long interval.
I think my plan will be to change once early on, probably after the 2000 mile break-in reccomended by the manual, then annually or by the computer, which ever comes first. I highly doubt I would ever put 20k on a single car in one years time.

Oh I know, they can actually go much longer yet. The trucking firm up the road from me runs a whole fleet of big rigs on synthetics. The oil change interval there is now 50,000 miles based on several years of experience and oil analysis. They normally run the trucks to 750,000 miles before an overhaul.

I just started getting the '3000 miles till service' warning message, and I'm nowhere close to 20,000 miles (around 9K).
Does the Cayenne work like a BMW, in that, your driving habits affect the distance between service? or is there something actually broke on my CS that needs attention, albeit at a leisurely pace? The manual is extremely vague on the message, only stating something to the effect of 'take it to the dealer for service'.
What is the first service? an oil change?

I would bet that Porsches system is very similar to BMW and MB. It is taking into account driving conditions and may even have a sensor in the oil reading contaminents. This technology has filtered down tomy Chevy truck with the duramax diesel.

I called my dealer just to check up on a few things a while back. He said that PCA originally stated 20,000 as the interval, but then halved it to 10,000. I have not yet seen a light on so far (had my change done at 13,000) and now have 15,000
