Hood open alert
Hello, have just joined this forum. My wife has a Cayenne which we have owned for a number of years without any real problems. However, it now constantly shows a hood open alert on the dash. I assumed it was probably just the sensor. My wife took it to a Porsche main dealer where they told her the problem was water had entered one of the headlights (which I now see is not working) and it has blown an electronics module. She was not there long so am not sure exactly what they did to check, but does that sound right? Is there an easy check to see if it is just a sensor or indeed the module they refer to (costed at $1000!!)? I can see the sensor, but can't see an easy way to get to it - does the whole front fender need to come off?

While I cant speak directly about the cause of your issue, it does sound like a bad sensor. Below is a tech article detailing the removal of the front bumper cover
