So I made it down from the north east this past December with my 08 CTT towing a trailer, and knowing that it would need an alignment once I got here.

Sure enough, I wore through the inside LR tire, so off to the dealer I went.

Calls me to day to tell me that the bolts holding the links (the ones with the eccentric bolts) are rusted and seized, and he has to put the torch to them to break them loose (the truck spent 2 winters in Canada, so I'm not surprised).

Total cost to R&R the bolts? $1100. And this is not counting the actual alignment that needs to be done (another $300). The links are still good.

So can anyone recommend a good indy shop in/around the LA area that can do both these jobs without the exorbitant price tag? It seems to me that this is excessive

Not sure exactly where you are in LA, but I recommend Auto Werkstatt in Manhattan Beach. They've been taking care of my cars for years, do great work, and are easier on the wallet than the dealer.
