Truly turning PSM off
Hey guys and gals. I use my 05 3.2 cayenne for off roading and even with the PSM turned off, it is still assisting. Not cool for the mud when I want to clean the tires out. Is there a way to completely take the assist off so I can get wheel spin?

PSM in NEVER "off". It's always operating & waiting in the background, even when selected in the off position.

I think if you disconnect the combo sensor (yaw & roll) it will disable the psm. I have never tried it. Other than that there is no way because the system is fail-safe. You might try researching a bit in the 996 forums. ReDone of those guys wire up a toggle to deactivate the sensor. I believe it is located under the center console towards the back.

I pulled fuse #26 on the driver side and it wouldn't start. Put it back in and pulled #6 on the passenger and it wouldn't start. Both were psm related. I guess the next step is to yank the abs fuse.

That will keep the abs pump from braking the spinning wheel(s) but then the PSM is goingto tell the ECU to cut throttle.
