Default Question for Tire Pressure Monitor system

Hi all,
Does Air Pressure sys. tells you the tire pressure of your 4 wheels? Or just warn you the pressure is incorrect. If I want to change my wheels, said to winter set, do I need to get new sensiors for another set of wheels/tires.

Thanks in advance.

It's absolute data, not comparative, of each of the 4 tires, displayed in the center IP.
Each "tire's" sending unit is a small "black box" affixed to the wheel itself, inside of tire. I don't know if the sending units are available via aftersales/aftermarket. Anyone???

JeffES, So no tire pressure reading like "30 psi" in the center IP.

The TPS tells you the air pressure in each of the four tires in PSI, on a little overhead view of the vehicle (at least on a TT). I have not tried any metric pressure displays if there are any. The pressure is displayed just as though you had measured the pressure in each tire yourself with a quality tire pressure gauge. I have actually compared my readings with three different expensive gauges, and they are right on.

The measured pressure also varies substantially with how warm each tire is in real time, changing with driving conditions. I have seen mine vary as much as 6 PSI from cold to warm tire conditions (so far). It is also interesting to see how much pressures varies with the side facing the sun, rough pavement, and other factors. It has been very educational for me.

It will also warn you of low tire pressure, although I have not yet received that warning. When it warns, you look at the display to see which tire(s) are at issue.

I believe it will warn if the tire is more than 3 PSI under (don't have manual with me). It figures this out by learning the tires for about the first 20 minutes of driving after they are mounted, after you reset the tires in the display.

Cheers, Dak

Actually, you can switch it from PSI to bar if you like.... as far as pressure changing, an old rule of thumb was for every 10 degree hike in temp, pressure goes up 1 psi - and vice versa.
You know, someday I oughta check that....
