Default Instrument cluster screen very dim

on 955 model, the centre screen ( multi function one) seems to be getting dimmer and dimmer over time. It varies during the daylight and during night times and affects some of the screen but essentially I see a few people have this issue. The gear selection is affected and speed display.

Just wondering if anyone has managed to find a solution , maybe swap for a newer style instrument section , if that works or replacing the LCD screen .

I had seen people who have swapped for a newer cluster but not sure of it is plug and play and of course you have the odometer issue. Dont want to be clocking the car !

I have seen, instead of the whole cluster, that you can get replacement screens which could be an option ?

like these

I have one (like your first link) waiting in a box, it is my next project...
There are several YouTube videos showing how to do it. Looks like the most complicated part is getting the instrument cluster out.
