I am looking for a cayenne turbo s . I found the one at the porshe dealership in grand rapids, mi. it is in my price range as they are asking around 23. Given so few were brought in for the 2009 model year, I am wondering if anyone is familiar with this one and willing to give some feedback. the vin is wp1ac29pxla81154. It has had four owners with 120k miles currently. The walk around video seems to demonstrate a well cared for vehicle. Can I do better for my price range of around 25? How should I research this vehicle further? Is it worth it to have a ppi when it has been looked over on authorized Porsche dealer and being sold by one? I am young and quite the rookie. Any thoughts on my search or knowledge on this vehicle is appreciated.

PPI is a must. I'd be patient and see if anyone on here plans on selling soon.

It looks like a nice CTTS, especially for the mileage. As mentioned above, a PPI is a must, done by someone who really knows these cars inside and out.

Thanks for the replies. I wonder how to proceed with a pre purchase inspection since the salesman says this has already been done and that things are good allowing the vehicle to remain with them and sent off to an auction. I am not familiar with Grand Rapids but I would think the dealer would be most qualified to do ppi there .

Does one insist on paying for a ppi at the selling dealership and hope for some honesty or does one seek out an Indy shop and hope they are good?

Is the dealer selling the Cayenne "AS-IS" (with all faults)? If so - you want a PPI by some other entity.

If the dealer is offering a warranty of some sorts - chances are they've at least given it to the shop to look over.

Ideally, something like a 100% 30/day warranty would cover you in case something is wrong with the vehicle. It's too old to get an extended warranty on - at least on a financially sane basis (an aftermarket warranty for a car that old with > 100k miles on it would be VERY expensive, and probably wouldn't actually cover much.)

I had a good PPI done on my wife's 997 at Porsche of Farmington Hills in the Detroit area. The Service Manager's name was Dan Curmi at the time (2013). Not sure how far away Farmington Hills is from Grand Rapids.

There are lower mileage 09 Turbo Ss out there but they're about $10,000 higher. There were only 306 brought into the US that year so they usually pull a but of a premium. At $25k if it checks out, that's a heck of a deal, but with some higher mileage.

I love mine.

There is a conflict of interest to have the selling dealer also do the PPI. The car looks nice, but it also has a lot of miles. If it were me, I would look for a much lower mileage Turbo in your price range. Have you priced front brakes on a Turbo S? If not, I suggest you call your local dealer and ask for a price quote. Is the engine quiet on start up? If there is any hint of "lifter noise" run far away. Good luck!

There is a thread specifically for high-mileage Cayennes - not limited to turbos - but the turbo isn't much different than the other ones for reliability...

As long as it was well looked after it shouldn't be an issue. PPI is a must, but the turbo's are pretty reliable. I have 310,000 kms on mine (192,000 miles) and everything works as it should. As previously mentioned, get a quote for the front brake rotors, they aint cheap on Turbo S.

I have a 09 Cayenne Turbo S with 180,000km. Asides from a scare recently that turned out to be the PCV valve, its been great and not needed any major repairs.

I usually replace my own pads and rotors.I hope that is something I can do with this car.

I wonder what I should ask to be done during a ppi? Any particular items that I should make sure are addressed that are specific to this car. I read the post regarding " before you buy read this " and addressed issues mentioned there with the salesman who then gave me reassurance after speaking to the tech at the dealership. Should a ppi include compression test?

You can change your brakes and rotors yourself. The issue is that the rotors are expensive. Think $1000+.

As far as compression testing goes, you can but I'm not sure it will reveal very much. If there is cylinder scoring that bad then you will definitely hear it.
