Am thinking of upgrading to the carbon fiber steering wheel. Don't care much for the wood, but do like the price better than the carbon fiber ($290 vs $1350).

Interestingly, I think the price of a wood wheel vs carbon fiber for a 996 is about the same, nearer the higher price charged for a Cayenne carbon fiber. Have been told that the wood wheels on the 996 are solid wood, unlike on the Cayenne. Can anyone confirm that is correct?

I assume that if I go with the carbon fiber I will lose the heated steering wheel function. Correct? Is this also the case with the wood wheels?

The 3-spoke in wood is far more expensive than $290.
At least when you buy it afterwards through Tequipment.

According to the Tequipment, the material used for the steering wheels is solid wood.

None of the wooden or the carbon steering wheels has the heating elements.

Important to know is that , depending on the equipment, some Cayennes need extra parts before they can install the wood or carbon steering wheel.

I believe the prices above are correct when ordering a car.

Why would the price difference be so great between wood and carbon steering wheels on the Cayenne? The prices for the carbon and the wood on an ordered 996 I think are both $1500. Must be something different about the wood wheel used for the Cayenne.
