So my new to me cayenne S has just thrown the engine code P0184 so I took it to an independent Porsche shop.
The said the code is related to the transmission valve body going out. The quote is just under $5000 for a new valve body, 2 new harnesses gasket , filter , fluid and possible control unit!
Wow does that sound right?
Here is a little history I bought the car in March with100k on it for $9k it is grey, loaded with the pano roof. It shifts fine no problems until the check engine light came on.
I thought it was a transmission Pressure Senor Switch not a valve body?

Valve body issues are a well known problem.

They normally show up as hard shifting, as I understand it.

$5k seems a bit steep, but it's not a cheap part. Jeff Spahn did his himself not too long ago, and documented it quite nicely with pics.

call valve body kings and get a replacement valve body for under 500 and then get filter and gasket and dexron 6 and change it in about 2 hours. doing my touareg in the next few days.
