Porsche remote lock/unlock

airtire,
if you read the owners manual it describes the door mechanism. If the door is unlocked, it takes one pull to open the door. If it is locked, the first pull unlocks the door and the second opens the door. A very smart idea especially for accident situations as you don't have to fumble for the lock/unlock button which may or may not work if the electronics have been disabled.

My brides MBZ CLK has a similar range to the Pcars. I used to use my Jeep key to find the truck in a crowded parking lot. Now I spend a lot more time going up & down aisles.
Someone posted, that euro thieves used drive by frequency locators, therefore the cars were more secure with a shorter range. Additionally the system is laser (line of sight). I don't know what the others are.

"Two pull" unlock/open of doors is pretty much the standard on cars/trucks w/power locks today. It (double pull) was going to be a FMVSS, so some carmakers added that in, but then "double pull" never made it as a reg, so look for carmakers to start taking it back out again....

Torags,
If you want range, check out GM's "Remote Start" fob - the thing works reliably from 100' out - but the fob weighs twice as much (battery, I'm sure), and my Uncle is on his 3rd (!) fob battery in one year! Guess range takes power.
How's the CLK?? My wife's best buddy got one & raves over it - so I'm hearing noises about "that nice car"... sigh.
