Air Suspension broke - 2005 Cayenne turbo
My 2005 cayenne Turbo had a little incident while driving a rough off-pavement trail.
While dropping off a small ledge-at around 5mph the front passenger side started to hiss and the the front end of the car dropped to lower rider stance...this isn’t optimal for driving out of the trail I was on!
I think that the front passenger air shock has broke, does anyone have any advice on this?
So far I have looked for replacements and I found Arnett at approx $600 per side, does anyone have experience with these guys or other Air shock replacements?
I’m also told that once you blow the struct the compressor works overtime to try and resupply the air and as a result burns ip. Is there any truth to this.
After driving this roads several times... it was actually embrassing to have to explain to all the jeepsters what was wrong... rather than just shocking them that I was navigating th trail in the 1st place.
thanks in advance

I've had exactly this happen, and replaced with Arnott units. If you search for 'air spring' you'll likely come across my posts which includes some helpful hints on getting the strut assembly out. Luckily for you it is the passenger side - slightly easier to get to than the driver side.
Good luck with it.. and remember, step one is removal of the wiper arm assembly. (no joke)

I agree. And, the Arnotts are not quite the same design so I would be leary of only doing one side instead of both on a f or r axle. I have a feeling that a few units came out with sharp edges on the aluminum bottom piece an that is what causes the explosion. 14 years and lots of hard miles on mine and they still look great. I also bath the rubber regularly in 303 Aerospace protectant.

Agreed that I would not do only 1 side - though that's exactly what I did to get it home from the hunting grounds ~300 miles away. I then replaced the other side once home and at my leisure.
