I didn't think anything could top a Jeep Wrangler, but I guess I was wrong. Had to look and a 5 year old 4-Runner with ~40K miles is averaging $30K in my area. Considering a brand new 2018 starts off at $34K, what the heck are people thinking?

My take on CarMax is they absolutely know what these bring at dealer auctions. There's no way they would put a 12 year car on their lot, so this is definitely headed to an auction somewhere. My guess is they've probably offered me $2K or $3K less than they will be able to dispose of it for at a wholesale dealer auction. I'll check with the Boss tonight and see if she's willing to let me have a few weeks to possibly do a private sale before just dumping it at CarMax. But always remember, happy wife, happy life.

Forgot to mention, there will definitely be some "spare" goodies I'll have to sell once my CTTS is gone (e.g., anyone want a complete set of the factory original shop manuals for the 955 Cayenne?). It's amazing how much stuff accumulates over 5 -6 years of ownership. But I won't be de-contenting it; simply too busy these days to deal with it.

I was actually looking into these numbers this morning. A query on cars.com showed similar cars asking about $12K. My loaded 2006 S is good for about $9k.

At this point it is either going to make some teenager that likes to turn a wrench very happy, or it's just cheaper to keeper.

My indy always tells me "this car will keep running for as long as you want to put money into it", and so far, he's right.

The question is: How much money? It'll probably be the air suspension or the AC or a computer gremlin that'll be the final straw.

Got 2K more than car max offered of my 2004 CS two years ago listing here, autotrader and cars.com.
Kelly Blue Book and Edmonds were much closer to actual value.

I would have paid $10K to $12K for your 06 Turbo S depending on the condition. In February of this year I paid $10,500 for an 04 Turbo with 104K miles on it. Seller was the second owner and both were local to my area. The coolant pipes and carden shaft were already done. It needed front brakes, head unit was dead and the headliner was drooping. I will also be doing a major service (all fluids, filters and spark plugs) on it and replacing the water pump, coolant expansion tank, drive belt and idlers in a few weeks. I also fixed an oil leak at the drivers side pressure tube and replaced the drivers cornering light bulb. I am currently trying to find the cause of water soaked drivers side carpeting as well but once this is all done I expect a solid and mostly trouble free luxury SUV for the next 5 or 6 years. Definitely a great buy right now with the 955 Turbo and Turbo S models if you can find a clean one. Good luck with your sale Spooltime!

Seriously. My CTT is going to be down at least another few weeks while I tear apart the whole front of it. I have other vehicles to drive (multiple of some) and unfortunately only one Cayenne and am missing the pilot seat right now. Post some pics and you might be surprised how quickly/easily someone like myself might make a deal with you in cash.

Exactly! Although, so far ALL maintenance costs (including oil changes, brakes, etc) have been within average for a porsche at about $1-2k per year.

Replacing the front passenger air suspension and shock next week, (luckily I found the parts for a fraction of Porsche's prices).

That was definitely a nice example and a good sale. I watched this auction. I think we'll see more 955/957s with under 100k miles surface and the value stabilize. Once the known issues are addressed (coolant pipes, bearing support, valve body, etc) you end up with a very solid vehicle able to go 200k miles with little degradation.

Maybe, maybe not. Don't forget cylinder scoring.

That is a huge question mark, looming over most of them.

I tend to be more positive about it than some are (I don't think it's that common of an issue), but that doesn't mean it won't affect the overall value of the car.

very much agreed!!! I’m at 130k miles and I don’t care I still drive the hell out of it and love it. Hoping to hit over 250k+ in this truck.

yea bore scoring does happen but it’s played up. I wouldn’t even worry. If something happened to my car I’d replace it with another 957 either another GTS or turbo s.
