After much hunting around, I have found a Pirelli all-season tire that is available for 19-inch wheels. However, it is not P-rated (has no "N" designator) and does not seem to have an XL rating.
It is sized as 255/50/VR19 with a load rating of 1929 lbs, and is 29" in diameter. Four of these balloons should support 7716 lbs which is around 2500 lbs more than the weight of the vehicle.
Aside from some complaints of Pirelli Scorpions being noisy, is there any real mechanical or safety reason why someone who prefers all-season tires to summer tires should NOT use these on the Cayenne?
Thanks!

Just go to tirerack.com, click on Brands, Pirelli, and then down under Light Trucks/SUV tires, Scorpion Zero. Then click on specs at the top. You'll see 'em.
I tried to place the URL, but it wouldn't work.
Let me know what you think.

I had Scorpion All Seasons on my ML for a time, the grip was great but as they were they get VERY noisy, in fact when I changed out I went to Dunlops and thought I was driving another car.
As I say I bet you could drive vertical in them but make sure your using all 350 watts.

Mike,
Thanks for the noise advisory. Everyone has said the same thing (probably a good enough reason to stay away). My question here, though, has to do with appropriateness to the car, given that it is not a P-designated tire.
Thanks!

Jeff,
The reason I asked that question is that I've actually talked with Tire Rack; their guy there (Jim) told me that they do not have any 19" winter tires for the Cayenne.
Maybe I'm just being naive here...but am I wrong in not being really concerned if the tire isn't P-designated? I don't have any intention of driving a Cayenne at those kinds of speeds anyway.

Rick,
My thoughts exactly!
In any event, I've sent off a note to Pirelli, and am anxious to see what they have to say (hope they respond!).
