Question Tow Hitch Safety Chain Attachment Thickness

Anyone else note that the safety chain attachment eye is slightly thicker than most other hitches?

Seems that some sort of adapter/neck down item might be needed for lesser trailers with smaller payload capacity. Anyone experience this? If so, what was your solution? I'm tempted with using a shackle or other similar item.

TIA for your response.

I'm told it is thicker, if you have the OEM hitch. My Curt Class3 chain receiver eye is about half as sturdy...

I’ve been able to pass the chain through the hole and then use the s-hook to get the job done on trailers that had too small of a hook.

Shackle would be the sturdiest solution.
