Default on board computer defaults to avg mph

Everytime I start the Cayenne, the on board computer dash display will default to avg mph; even though when the car was running and shut off, it was set to avg mpg.

Is there a way to make the on board computer display keep its last setting?

Thanks

That's one of the very minor issues that pisses me off also. I don't believe you can change the setting. Every time I start her up I've got to adjust that toggle. It's annoying.

Hmm... mine seems to stay at whatever it was last, which for me usually is avg mpg or distance to empty.

Can't remember any prefs here, any chance that it is tied to memory? It would make sense for me because I am endlessly tweaking mirrors & seat and in the habit of pushing the mem set button.

Worth a try.

I have the same experience as DanP and pdxjim. 04 Cayenne S that comes back at whatever was displayed when shut off.

Lewis, this is the gremlins just trying to tick you off since you did such a good job on the sound system. BTW, did you see one of the posts in another thread on this board about a software update for the amplifier to fix the channel hopping problems??? Is this yet another appearance of the stereo salesman masquerading as a Porsche Service Writer?? Can you comment?

DanP: I will try the memory; my wife took the Cayenne today, so it will have to wait till tonight.

Toby: Yes, I did see that post. Yes, I did chuckle Since the amplifier can only be software updated in vehicle over the MOST ring via the headunit, they took the opportunity to update the headunit and also the amplifier at the same time. The service person would not have known exactly what was being updated. Having designed the amplifier, I can say with 99% certainty that the amplifier is not responsible for headunit tuner selection!

Do not know if 04 changed anything from 03. But it seems that 04's have upgrades(?) from the 03's.

Guys. anyone with PCM, new arrivals have version 3.0 og the PCMII operating system software installed. Older Cayennes 03 and 04 have version 2.0.

In order to use the 2003 Nav Data disks from NAVTECH you will need to get your dealer to a) obtain the updated software and b) perform the update.

Now I could be wrong but the PCM is the radio entertainment center, that being the case it would not suprize me if there were other small fixes in there, like the problem you were disgussing, but you are right I don't think Bose are involved with the radio.

It stayed that way for close to 2 hrs. no sound was present during this time. I restarted the vehicle multiple times during the 2 hours with no luck. For no known reason it cleared itself of the error condition

And my 04 S with PCM version 3.0 does not remember the last setting in the HUD.
