19" M&S tires
My tire guy tells me that the Yokohama AVS S/T is a M&S tire available in 275/45/19.
Anyone running these? Want to confirm these are M&S rated and get a feel for wet road/snow performance.

According to 1010tires.com, the AVS S/T is an Ultra High Performance summer only tire. They don't show it in 19" though. See http://www.1010tires.com/tire.asp?ti...emodel=AVS+S/T.

The Yokie tire you have mentioned is not available in your size. Furthermore, it is NOT a 'high performance tire'.
This tire would not satisfy ANY icing or snow conditions since it was not designed for such an environment. If you are looking for an 'I-80' icing conditions tire to get you about you MUST inquire about the chemical compounding, cord construction, siping, and LAST in importance, the channeling. Your 'tire expert' should be able to give you specific technical answers to your questions or be able to direct you to a valid source.
It is important to remember that bad advice on a icing/snow tire can get you killed and the person who gave you the worthless advice probably will NOT be in the car with you when the accident occurs!

For the 19" wheel you can use the Continental "4x4 Winter Contact" in 255/50-19.
The tires have the V - XL rating (240km with extra load) and the size matches the outer roll diameter for the Cayenne.
These Conti's are available since 2 weeks.

These tires are not currently available in the U.S. I inquired about these to Conti-US, and they said they have no information about when (or if) they would become available.

Man couldn't wait for the all season conti's to arrive in the U.S. so ordered a package set from tirerack 18inch AT Italia rims with pirelli scorpion ice/snow(replaced the caps with Porsche crests from my 996) around $1400. Snowboard season is here-woohoo!!!!!Regards. Mike

Those of you with 18" tires may want to review the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3 tire in the 'V' rating [149mph]. It has great ice capabilities as well as snow performance action. The siping as well as tread blocking is outstanding technically.
Remember: The only difference in tread footprint sizes between your wonderful summer high performance tire and a winter ice tire is the ice underneath it!
