Default 3rd Party Tow hitch

Not wanting to tow 7000lbs or anywhere near it I am loathed to put $1400 or so into the factory hitch.

I have be unlucky so far but did come across something close.

Does anyone know if this looks like the Cayenne when the fender is removed.

Sorry here is a link to the picture

3rd Party Tow Hitch

The logic is that this is a Touareg, the DIY kit is less than $200 and its fully rated (OK nix warranty)

They do not have a specific one for the Cayenne because they do not have a dealer close by to work with. Anyone in WI ?

Without taking the fender off, going underneath its the same, light cluster is different, the skirt is different and it has a premarked cutout to allow the hitch to come through.

What the pic shows is the same, Cayenne or Toureg. The 4 rubber "snubbers" are the mounting points for the spare carrier (left side), and the rest of the assembly looks to be the same. If the hitch is of good quality, then it seems a reasonable lower cost solution.

I was told that it is a "cut & fit" operation, but that is from a source that's been no better than 50% in the past. I've no other info on this, but I'd sure like to know also....

Well if I am going to take the risk I want to do it now before it gets to cold out. (yes OK with the comments).

I am going to the dealer tomorrow to see if they will tell me about the skirt.

One thing I was suprized at recently is the low cost of plastic parts for the Cayenne. Can you believe I bought something for $6.95 from Porsche.

I might hold a competition to guess what it was.

Anyway the skirt may not be too expensive.

I just looked at a pic of the stock underskirt. Its cut just like the Treg's.

$6.95 gets you the front euro licence plate mounting. inc PA tax. Parts guy said if it were Audi (there other dealership) it would be $80 for sure.

$6.95...I think that's also the price for the pesky rear window wiper nut cover that pops off during every car wash. You figure I'd remember since I've already bought 2 of them.

I wonder how much the little plastic joystick button on the seat is, I bet I can guess.
