Default Boxer transmission repair

I have to have my second gear replaced. Would it make sense to replace the clutch while engine is out? 50,000 miles

To work on the transmission you don't have to remove the engine, just the transmission. And yes, if the clutch has never been changed then at 50,000 miles it is a good time to do the clutch, flywheel, misc clutch stuff, plus the RMS, IMS and even the AOS.

With the trans out it is an opportune time to address all kinds of 'while you are in there' stuff that can only be done with the trans out. Unless you need to open up the engine for some reason leave it in the car.
