the shifter is too loose.. and the gear engage seems awkward. Any advice when I open it up and adjust the cables?
I installed a B&M shifter a while back and been meaning to do an adjustment.
When this car gets older is it normal for shifter to get more lose though, or the feel "tight" ?

When you installed the B&M, did you mark where the shift cables entered the barrels? If not, you'll have to do a full readjust.
The correct way to readjust is to buy a plastic piece from Porsche that centers the shifter, then you put the cables into the barrels a predetermined amount. However, the Porsche tool won't work with a B&M - supposedly you have to install the stock shifter into the B&M bushings, adjust your cables, mark where they enter the barrels, and reinstall the B&M.
FOR EVERYONE WHO INSTALLS B&Ms - remember to mark where your cables enter the barrels. It will save a lot of time and headaches.

nooo.. i'm S.O.L. then. So I'll have to readjust by feel ? :-(
The instructions didn't say so, and I read a few B&M threads and this is the first time I heard of this warning. Ahh well.

Why the B&M instructions do not tell you to mark the cables is a mystery. The only problems I know of with B&M owners are those who did not mark the cables. We show how to do this 3 different ways on the DVD. Jeff
