Somehow I'm missing something. I bought a Boxster to enjoy cruising around comfortably while enjoying the sportcar sensation. It is the spyder I've longed for with technology. I often use the balance of the car to enjoy twists in the road, that's it. It was not marketed as a supercar. As stated previously, with driving skills it can become nothing short of incredible.
I use my 70 911 to take out frustration in auto-x, and track days. I must admit that sometimes I find myself entering corners with more controlled speed in the boxster.
Just my .02
Thanx
Carl

There's the key right there. Porsche never intended this car to be a world beater in terms of outright performance. (If the did, surely they could have powered it with something a bit larger!) But since it has "Porsche" on the hood, everyone else expected outright pace in every catagory.

talk about dejavue! This whole thread sounds like the same threads in the 944 newsgroups! I've owned two 944's, one a turbo, and I've already been bashed so much by the 911 crowd that I feel right at home here...as I'm thinking of buying a 2002 boxster...

Where in Jersey are you?

this post reminds me of my co-worker who was bashing my 944 cause his maxima has 200+ hp and the 944 has like 150. I asked him if he thought an 800 hp Mack truck was also faster and handled better than my 944. He judges how fast cars are by how high the speedo goes...so i really cant get too carried away with him, let alone condone to racing him.
