Looking to purchase a 2003 Boxster is there anything that I should know before making the purchase?

How much research do you want to do? Will knowing the good and the bad spoil your enjoyment?

There are maybe a dozen articles here including my personal likes and dislikes. (Short version, loved em both.)

Thumbs up S is best !

I agree. Bought my 2003 Boxster S (3.2L) Tiptronic five months ago so I have enjoyed a full summer and over 3,000 trouble-free miles. I leave the transmission selector in "M" at all times, and total miles now are about 106,000 (170,800 KM)

Default 2003 S . . . . . love it

Do your research like Mike says. Get a PPI, put it through the checks Mike outlines in his threads and have fun.

Bought my 03 S last summer with 44K miles on it and have put ~6K miles since. The only thing I added was an IMS Guardian that I got on the cheap on ebay from a 911 owner who sold his car before he installed it. Gives me a sense of comfort so I can enjoy driving it.

Find the right car and drive, drive, drive

Drove one years ago. Then got married and sold it. Nine years into marriage I got the bug again and got a 997. But back to the Boxster... I'd suggest an S. More money but I drove a base and wished I had ponied up for S. Depends on your situation of course. Get a PPI of course. Mine was reasonably reliable but did have the typical AOS and RMS. I installed short shift kit in mine. Loved it. If you're in snow country know that it's fantastic in snow. With winter tires of course! Overall a blast to drive and still raw. A roadster. Before technology became so prevalent. Feels like a throwback. And if I didn't have two kids I'd very likely be driving a Boxster again vs my 911.
