autobahn ny-you are correct-there are people who would like a boxster better than a 911. but i think that it is fair to say that the majority, money not being a consideration, would like the 911 better.

Actually, money not being a consideration, I would put GT3 RS suspension, transmission, and engine in my Boxster. A Boxster built to GT3 RS or Cup spec would make a better race car than the 996. A Boxster with a 996 engine would make a better street car than does a 996. And personally I think the Boxster is far better looking than a base 996. Put a decent tail on the 996 and it starts looking better. Widen the **** and its starting to look as good as its sibling. But the only to choose a 996 over a Boxster for me would be that there are far more options available to make the car race ready.

So, no. Money NOT being a consideration I suspect there are still plenty of people that would choose a Boxster over a 996.

netmaniac-most people who buy a porsche use them as street cars, not race cars. and, as you know, they don't make boxsters with 996 engines in them. and despite the fact that you have a fine car in a boxster s, most buyers would rather have a 996. that is reality.

The only advantage of the 996 is more power..don't get me wrong its a great car,I want a 911 myself one day,but to say its better because of more power is not enough to say its better.We all know Porsche wont give the Boxster the power it really needs.Lets not even get into the Boxster's amazing handling capabilities.The Boxster has it own distinct character.More power is obtainable with mods,so I'm going to make a great car even better,rather than step up to a 996.I'd say the 996/911 is just a different car in its own great way,not better.Thats just my opinion.

I agree,the majority of people would rather have a 911,cause it a "911." Then there are those who like 911 because it fits their needs.The 911 brings heritage and its more expensive so its "better."I would say better power.
