Rev flat spot after MAF cleaning
Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a great holiday season. Trying to track down an issue and yes I did search for an answer...
Got the P1198 on a 2001 S, so I replaced the upstream O2 Sensor and cleaned the MAF. I had the fault cleared.
So when driving it, it seems to be a bit sluggish up to about 4500 RPM, then there is a surge up past 5K. From there is rev's fine. I am wondering if maybe the MAF was bad.
Any ideas? Also is there more than one MAF part number for the 2001 S?
Thanks in advance.

Drove the car for a bit. The flat spot is a 3700-3800 RPM and is really only felt under hard throttle. Under low to mid throttle, it is not noticeable. You know, it could have been there all along and I just never noticed it....

From: Seattle - it's not Hell, but you can see it from here!
from Pelican:
if your MAF was dirty you should clean your throttle body too.
If the old sensor that you removed is 996.606.124.00, then you need to replace it with the same part number (or have Porsche update your DME software to accommodate the newer style sensor: see Technical Service Bulletin 1/00 2445 Air Flow Sensor -- dated 4-18-00).
If the old sensor you're removing ends in 125.00 or 125.01, then replace it with 986.606.125.01 (the latest version available).
