Default CDR23 03 Boxster S Bose Head Unit Replacement?

Hey now,
I'm the owner of an 03 Boxster S who's Bose CDR23 Stereo Head unit is crapping out regularly on CD's and looking for an inexpensive replacement.

I've investigated replacing the entire audio system, but frankly, I do not expect to own the car much longer, been saving for a 911S for some time, and plan on buying one in the next year or so. Replacing the entire system appropriately would entail an investment of about $1K or so do it right, and I'm not putting $$$$ into a car worth less than $20K.

Has anyone had experience swapping out the head unit only and continue using the Bose AMP & Speakers?

I realize this is not an optimal solution for decent audio, but I really don't want to go through the hassle and expense of the rip and replace of Head Unit, AMP, & Speakers.

Nope. You can do head unit and amp replacement. Then some wiring to change the ohms of the speakers.

That's bare minimum. Or just buy a used CDr 23.
