As I decided to use a Hans device (on track), I had to change my Schroth harness, that was anyway outdated (I think it was a “2011”), and use a Schroth Profi II “H”, that has narrower top/shoulder bands in order to fit and stay in place in the Hans “groves”.

To change a bit, I went for the “silver” color, that matches better my interior than the "Schroth Yellow ! I.e.: a little bit like the “white” stitching and white external color of the car.

Now that this is in place, I just put on eBay (US$ 99.00 starting bid) my former black harness, that had a great option : the “center connecting ring was attached to the left belly band, ..instead of in the antisub points (5th and 6th). This was giving the freedom to use this harness in both 4 or 6 points mode ! (The new one has the attaching point on the antisub, so, it can only be use in 6 points mode !)

My old harness that is now for sale (last photo in the car) :

A little bit of cleaning this afternoon, I had a lot of tire stains all over the place (souvenirs from the tracks). I think, it is the first external washing since a good year !
I was looking from the rear, the 10" of my "road config" (Pilot Sport on Turbo Twist from a C4S) together with the PSS9, gives a fairly wide and low stand !

The Brembo kit did not stay that long in the boxes, in the garage !
Now, the brake upgrade is done, I started with the “right” side :
(we can also see the new steel breaded line, in the left of the PSS9)

and then, the right one :

Note : the wood "mini ramp" is the one I used on u-haul trailers, to have the front of the car lifted a bit on trailer, to have the spoiler above the front structure of the trailer. I also use it on the garage, ...to lift the car a bit, otherwise I cannot have the jack going in place ! (Car naturally to low !!)

I just did some small “tests”, low speed, bedding the (new) pads and brake, these just look terrific. These are just “stoppers”. Just amazing. I wonder what’s going to be the gain on track. Will see that quite soon.

Btw, as you can see, no “Turbo Twist”, ..I had to fit the OZ back in place.

Why ?
Would you believe that these big brakes ..do not let the hollow Turbo Twist (OEM rims from a 996 Turbo), ..not enough room !
This, when I understand that this kit would also fit 996, ..if you have 18” rims.
Well, OK with the OZ, ..but not OK with the Porsche rims !

So, my great set, with Pilot Sport, that came from my last 996 are “Ciao-Goodbye”.
I’m quite sad, I liked these very-very much, but no fit is no way !
I want to sell these, most probably with no tires, as then, I will buy another set of OZ, in order to have a set of tires that are “good” for road use.

This is really too bad, imo, they were looking great :

For info, this was a kind of hybrid 18" Turbo Twist set : the front are hollow (light), good for the front axe, from a 996 Turbo and the rear were 10” wide, solid spokes coming from a 996 C4S (the rear of the 996 Turbo (hollow) are 11” wide and do not fit a Boxster).
So, I will put these on sales, problem being the shipping costs, so ideally pickup would be more “logical”.

PS: yes, ..I have a ring sticker in the center windstop, those who know me, also know that I do not like the ring. I think that the only good thing of the ring, ..is the sticker that comes from the shop there, ..i.e.: the container that has an open windows to serve customers !

May be I a should try to do a summary of what is “in stock” in the garage, and that I would be happy to have for sale :
(List is maintained up to date, sold item are deleted out of the list.)

. A complete roof, dark blue, with all the mechanical frame, plastic window in good shape.
I think that it was changed (new one) when the car had 60k miles, ..or 3k miles ago.
Always garaged, so in good shape. Make an offer, but, I recommend to come and pick it up, it is heavy (18 kg) and pretty big “package”.
The good point : it took me less than half an hour to remove it, quite easy.
Update : Sold

. A dark blue passenger seat, in great shape, complete with the mounting rail.
I used the driver seat (that was in a less good shape), and fix it at the base of an used office roll seat, ..and it made a fantastic bench seat on the garage !

. I just upgraded my “Boxster S” front brakes (red caliper, 63,000 miles) against Brembo 6 pistons kit, so, I have the rotors (3’000 miles, in great shape, no lip at all). I want to sell these. (Update : Front S Calipers sold.)

. I had a set of “Turbo Twist rims” for my “road tires” (Michelin Pilot Sport). This was a kind of hybrid set : the front are hollow (light, good for the front axe), from (OEM) a 996 Turbo and the rear were 10” wide, solid spokes coming from a 996 C4S (the rear of the 996 Turbo (hollow) are 11” wide and do not fit a Boxster).
So, I will put these on sales, problem being the shipping costs, so ideally pickup would be more “logical”.
Update : sold.

. I have a Cayenne 955 front turbo bumper “kit”, with the OEM turbo grilles as well as the turbo headlight washers, and etc..
Before we sold our Cayenne S, I had the plan to install this front bumper, with the motivation that some days, when we were towing the boat (6’000 pounds) on hot days and uphill, (i.e.: driving on the 5, from San Francisco to Newport Beach, and going up on the pass), I had the temperature going up.
But we sold the CS, and the “kit” stayed in the garage !
Update : sold.

. By the way, I have also a Curt tow bar (6’000 certified), that I bought to put on a Touareg that we had also, in order to tow the boat after the Cayenne was sold, ..but I traded in against a Cayenne Turbo, ..that had a hitch from the factory !
So, I have a Curt (OK for Cayenne, Audi Q7 or Touareg) that left over in the garage.
(heavy to ship !!)

If you have interest on any of these items, let me know (by "PM").
Thanks a lot.

Back to Laguna Seca, this time again with the Golden Gate Lotus Club.
Great people, on the pitts as well as on the track. Great cars too.
First time out on track with "big brakes" on the Boxster.
Results: something like a gain around two seconds per lap.
I have seen in the recording things like 1.31 g on braking, which is quite impressive, and this when I'm sure, I can even use more power out of these brakes (i.e.: braking later !)

A nice photo (thanks to Dito at gotbluemilk.com photos) where we can see the front brakes, they are real large :

I think now the mods are done, the work is on the driver, and, then, ..at the engine.
I think since my first drive on this Boxster : all is good, ..except missing some more juice !

Saw this on eBay and thought of your very cool Boxster S!

http://m.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-911-2d...882?nav=SEARCH

Also Sent a PM.

Lean towards non-painted wheels but after seeing the white GT with white wheels I thought your BOXSTER S might look even more refined wearing white OZ's with your red Big Brake Brembos!

@ OKINAWA080
This is very funny : As soon (last week) as I found that my "Turbo Twist" hybrid (Hollow/non-hollow) set with the "road tires" will not fit anymore, I started to look at the OZ site to get a staggered set of white Alleggerita HLT, (18") for my "road tires" !
Yes, I'm sure it is going in the "line" of this car.
..Will do "that" after the Turbo Twist are sold, ..garage is too crowded !
(Note that these stripes were already in place when I bought the car, the previous owner did put these in place, pretty good taste imo !)
Yes, this GT3 4.0 is REAL nice looking with this "color". Also : most probably the nicest flat six of all the P cars ever produced !
That one would be real great in a Boxster !

PS : Thanks, PM answered.

Recently, (having no more roof on my 986 !) I purchased over eBay a product, that I think is a real GREAT one.
This is a “Porsche Boxster 986 SOFT TOP ROOF PROTECTOR HALF COVER”.
It was just below US$ 100.00, shipping included and I would say, the quality is real good.
The seller “code name” was “northamericancustomcovers”, they are based in York, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
I can only recommend this product, which is super great to my view !
(I have no financial interest in the above message, this is just a free feedback.)

PS : I do not tow when the cover is in place, this is just a protection when the car is parked outside (rare). The attachments are basically magnets inside the lowest part of the sides and the rear of the cover, as well as two Velcro bands below the mirrors.

The tricks to unload peacefully with the "short" ramps of the u-Haul trailers : Rino ramps (60 bucks) + Suspension set in terrain mode = easy load/unload with any bottom scratches :

Today, another first time experience : (Ok, I have been to Pebble beach, Quail and etc.. many times, ..but, only as visitor), I felt it would be interesting one time to do a Concours, and have Judges ..looking at my car.

So, I decided to show the Boxster at the PCA annual Carlsen Concours d’ Elégance, or, a kind of "strange "test", ..for a fun/track car !
Friday, I did some cleaning, ..not bad, as I think this was the third cleaning session during 3 year of ownership of this car, ..and the second in the same month !!! (..this with over 1’000 track miles, during the last two years !) I had to clean again a lot of rubber (tires) marks.
Then, today, for a 15 year old car, that has 63’000 miles, ..a very pretty non predictable result did happen: Winning a trophy for the 2nd rank in the “Competition class” (I was probably very lucky, to be in a class with a small amount of cars in the entry list !)
Would you have believed that a 2001 Boxster S "can do" that ?

After this past ..and very first “Concours” tentative, with a quite surprising and successful result, back home and, no time to prepare the car to be back ..were this car is intended to be use, i.e.: on track.
I think next track session will be September, at least I hope !
(For now, let’s have the Boxster in vacation.)

In order to keep some small activities, I bought some central console parts (all in black plastic, or some parts covered with black vinyl (OEM), and use some of my part time, to strip the vinyl and replace this OEM finishing material, by Alcantara.
Doing such works by small slices of “timeshare”, it took some time, but now, to my view, my center console has a kind of better look and feel !
i.e.: the lateral side parts below the shifter, the ash tree area and the cover of the rear box are now covered with Alcantara !

Size: 253.9 KB

I also took the time to "move" the fixed point of the harness lock, from the front ("antisub" point) into the left band, this in order to be able to use it as a 4 points, and more important for me, to be easier to "hide" the antisub (now without the locking mechanism) under the front cushions of the seat !
Note that moving the fixed point of a Schroth harness, ..is a very "complicate" task, i.e.: looks more like fixing a watch than doing some "mechanic" !
I did such work twice already, and I'm not sure will do it a third time !

As this car is quite old, doing such "remodeling" work maintain IMO attractiveness and great level to be happy being inside, this together with such a great chassis behavior.
i.e.: an old car, but, such a great car.

And then, what’s next “mods” ? Well, I need now to find a roof solution. I have no plan to put the OEM roof back on place, so, I need to find another solution.
Will see, Hope to be done with that ..before the winter !

Sure, now that the brakes are super good, the suspension is fine, well, ..may be a serious pro tuning on the suspension would be also part of the important future plan, the last very important one is the engine. A good rebuild would be a great solution. Still thinking deeply on that.

Normally, my great "hybrid" set of Turbo Twist II are sold, so, I now, I'm in the search of a set of OZ Alleggerita HLT, (8 front, and 10 rear), all on 18" (..to be able to keep using my open road set of tires).
And, for these, I want them "white".

Good bye and farewell to these real great set :

The upgraded (non OEM) front brakes on this car are :
Brembo Front GT Big Brake 6 Piston Red 355x32 Drill Disc.

Note, for example : Such brakes do not clear for the use of the 996 Turbo Twist II (OEM) 18" rims !
But, they do, for the OZ Alleggerita HLT 18 !
