Default optional rear speaker unit

Posting for a friend that just purchased a 1999 Boxster... Seems that his optional rear speaker unit is not functioning. Checked leads and have continuity. Wires run from amp, ( in trunk), to unit itself. In doing research, I am understanding that the problem could be that this unit should be plugged into the back of his Becker CDR-220, not spliced into the amp. Does anyone know if this is true? E-mailed Becker but to date, no response. Is there a harness they can supply and DOES this plug directly into the head unit, not the amp? Thank all for your help and experience.

Default

There were two amps, a 4 x 40W (which he almost certainly has) and a 6 x 40W in > '03 models. With the 4 x 40W, the rear speaker unit does get fed off the head unit directly. There should be a label on the amp showing which model it is. As for the plug, the pinout for the Becker radio connectors are easily found online and Becker should be able to sell you the connectors if its not already there.

However if his rear wires are really spliced into a working amp output, there should be some sound.
