Hey guys, I made a mistake with my 1999 Boxster and tried opening the top while the top was still locked.....something broke and made a loud snapping sound- anyone ever make this mistake- what happened and what broke...repair price?

Just a SWAG but it sounds like a cable snapped or a cable ballsocket end broke.

You could be lucky and just have the ball pop out of the cup but if not, I believe you have to purchase a set as individual parts are not available.

Probably one of the plastic ball sockets.
