tranny problem with on '01 tip
Hello all,
On an '01 base boxster, tiptronic, 59,000 miles...what would it cost to fix the transmission? I think it totally needs to be rebuilt.
Thanks

The Tip is built by ZF and there are a lot of cars besides Porsches running around with this or similar transmission and the word I get from the various dealer service techs I talk to every major metro area has several shops quite capable of doing a good rebuild.
The techs often receive the car and remove the Tip for the customer then the Tip is rebuilt and reinstalled by the techs.
The cost is thousands less than the cost of a new Tip.
What makes you think the Tip needs to be rebuilt? 59K miles is not that many miles and IIRC the fluid is not due to be changed until 90Kmiles.

I believe that is a ZF 5HP19 (or 18)
Common to many Audis, BMWs, others.
best to call around.
My guess would be $4k plus install/remove.
What makes you think it needs a complete rebuild? Has it been checked out? has it been serviced?
