i must say that i haven't really liked the 981 in photos. it looks MR2-ish & a bit ricey. saw one on the road this weekend; WOW! the car looks outstanding. I was really surprised how much different it looks in motion. me likey!

It is funny that it has some of the same design ideas as the MR2 (side scoops, bulbous headlights), but it's kind of like the difference between a 5-year-old's drawing vs. a full-grown-artist's, if that makes sense!

true. i think a lot of it for me is getting used to the enormous wheel arches & wheels that are commonplace now adays. they make small cars look short & squatty in pictues.
the 981 i saw was coming straight at me; it looked like a more modern CGT. slick.
how do you like yours? i'm sure it's worlds apart from your 986.

It's a completely different car than my 986s. Both were base, so way down on power of course. They sure were fun though, very lively and responsive. The new car feels quite a bit bigger. Since it's still so new I haven't been able to push it to its fullest but it's very capable and the structure is very solid; e.g. no cowl shake at all over some pretty rough railroad tracks near my house.
The interior is really nice, and I like the multi-function TFT display. The door/seatbelt/key chime is really cool too, hard to explain but a nice bong.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I haven't had much time to drive it because of family in town so still only about 100 miles.

why is Porsche going the wrong way on the chassis numbers? First the 911 and now the boxster? I had thought Porsche was holding out for a V8 on the 911 calling it a 998. Just curious what you guys have heard.
