Default 2000 Boxster S - Rear lid

After removing rear lid linkage circlips and moving the lid higher (re: to gain greater engine compartment access) how is the linkage realiegned to the pin. I am finding it impossible. Is brute force required or is there a trick?

It is harder to explain than to perform. Say you are on the left side of the car, with your left hand on the front of the lid and your right hand on the arm. pull up with your left hand and push the arm toward the pin, sliding the whole thing back and forth until you got on the pin. Once you did one it will be easy to figure out the other.
