Default CDR-220 Volume Issues

I have an 01' 986 with a factory Becker CDR-220 radio. As of a few days ago when I turn the volume control **** counter clockwise the volume actually goes up (and can't be turned back down). I'm currently at volume level 25 and although I seldom use the radio 25 is a little harsh on the ears for traffic reporting. Any thoughts on a 'fix' would be greatly appreciated.

Default Fix

Same problem in the past. Remove the faceplate and reinstall. Should work again.

Wow, I recently have exact same issue/same radio. Really, just remove/reinstall face plate? You mean flip it down like when you remove/insert a CD, and that will do it? Sounds too easy....

Thx

CB

You have to flip it downa nd take it off. Then when you put it back on and close it, things should work. Normally the problem is a contact one.

Awsome! I just did that very simple fix and now my volume control is perfect again. Thanks!

RL strikes again!

FWIW, on my car it occasionally gets stuck between 17-18 and opening + closing the faceplate like suggested here fixes it. Sometimes the display doesn't power up, pushing the faceplace gently usually fixes that one.. easy

(of course it can't be replaced with anything else, too cool to have the radio saying PORSCHE when it goes on)

I just went through this, and since I was trashing the old radio (which was trash...) I just pulled the little tabs off the radio with a pair of pliers.

Slid right out then :-)

If I had any worries about wrecking an original part of the car, they went away when I read the scrawl on the back of it reading "05 Boxster"

it was already a replacement unit.

Happily using my new Sony head unit with Carplay.

it does not do anything to the volume. I removed the face plate, installed it back and still my volume is very loud
is there anything I can do to turn it down ? Would disconnecting the battery work?
