Default 1998 Boxster HP to the wheels?

I always thought Porsche rated power to the wheels.... is the 201 hp at the crank? If so, how much power is actually hitting the rear wheels?

Porsche HP numbers are not "at the wheel". However, the Germans tend to be quite "conservative" in their ratings and the listed ratings, more often than not, are closer to a minimum hp than a maximum hp rating.

Most would say to figure 10-15% loss in the driveline.

201 - (10-15%) = 170-180rwhp.

best way to know is to put a car on a dyno

Yep, the 201 is crank. I assume about 15% loss to the wheels. Stock cars should be in the 165-180 range. The Spec Boxsters with A/C removed, under drive pulley, and rebuilt to max spec see 175-195 range. Depends on the dyno as well...
