People might mock, but little things like the radio and cupholders DO matter; we do have choices in what we drive, and lousy daily driveability was what drove me away from an S2000.
Same for me with regards to the S2000 - I got my old Z4 instead.

And definitely the sound system makes a difference - my old 2.7 had the premium sound, my new S does not and its night and day.

I've got the one that has 2 holders and sticks between the passenger seat and the console. I had it in the 944 and it works great. I'll post a pic later.

03 986 got cupholders above the radio, 05 987 the cupholders moved to about the glovebox. Both are garbage in my opinion. The ulitmate cupholder is great, it is pricey, but it is handmade and it is steel. It hold's my Starbucks perfectly every morning on my way to work.

Default Solution...

I have the REI water bottle holder, which is adjustable for bottle, cup, whatever,
mounted on the passesnger side of the console in my Boxster and in my 993.
One small screw to attach...it looks right, it works and it only $11.95.

I too have one from ultimatecupholders.com. Well made and good looking. Don't use it very often but on long road trips a bottle of water is a nice thing to have.

I found 4 plastic cup holders at WalMart (for shame, I know) they are big enough to fit my extra large "roadie" cup. I drive over 100 miles each way a day…you gotta keep your fluids so you can drive properly. I bought 4 of them for the price of $2 with tax. I ruined 2 of them trying to mount them but they mount just like the "ultimate Cup Holder" on the floor while hooking into the carpet trim tab - so you are not damaging important electronics with your drops of condensation form your drink cup. It is the same color as interior just made of cheap plastic. There is no chance of this flying back at you IF it comes loose. While not the best solution…it is easily removed too.

+1 for ultimate cup holders, I have them in my BMW and they work great. I am going to order a set for my 986 soon.
