Default What's it Worth?

I'm thinking it may be time to sell my Boxster and I don't really know what it's worth. Anybody have any ideas? Specs are as follows:

1998 Boxster
25,000 miles
5 Speed Manual Transmission
LN Engineering Nickies Cases bored out, with 911 Crankshaft to bring it to 2.9L
J&E Pistons
LN Engineering Billet Rods
LN Engineering IMS Upgrade
LN Engineering Low Temp Thermostat
LN Engineering Billet Chain Tensioner

and probably some other good stuff I've since forgotten.

The car is in Excellent Condition as well.

I would go to Auto Trader.com, plug in your year and work with 500 mile radius. Auto Trader will compute average price of those on market in your general area. I would think your IMS upgrade should be worth an extra $1,000 or so. I'm not sure what the mods will get you on market as some prefer stock, but you should be able to figure out a price that will garner attention and a sale. Sounds like real nice Boxster. This year, I bought a 2001 Boxster with 54,000 miles and paid average price of $15,400 for it. I found the bargain priced Boxster's weren't bargains at all, but money pits. Also, since it's still summer, prices tend to be at least $1,500 higher than in November-December. Again, Auto Trader has a ton of used Boxsters on its site, and should give you decent gauge of what a fair price is for a 1998 Boxster. I would imagine you are closer to top price for that year as opposed to lowest price.

Any engine dyno results? Any brake or suspenson upgrades? Colors? Hows the top/rear window? Option codes?

I'd pay top dollar for a worry-free boxster. Not sure what the market will bring, but if I was looking, I'd be looking at yours. GLWS.

On Auto Trader today, there are 35 1998 Boxsters for sale within 500 miles of my home with highest price being $20,000 and lowest $8,000. Average price was close to $13,000. Throw out the higest price as in vehicle probably sitting forever unsold, and lowest price as god awful money pit. I would say half were dealer offers and rest private sellers. I personally would price my Boxster to sell if I were selling. So I wouldn't stray too far from average even with IMS retrofit and new tires. Other variables are region, color, and mileage as in were 30,000 and 60,000 mile maintenance intervals taken care of and how many miles can I drive it before I'm confronted with those issues. Also do you have to sell for personal reasons or are you just testing the waters and will only let it for for top dollar that may or may not be reasonable.

past porsches:
'64 356 coupe
Vintage 550 replica featured in 'Sin City'
'99 Boxster

So what happened to the 550 featured in Sin City? I saw two pretty cool 550's at P2Oxford last month. One seemed to be replica and other original, but don't know for sure. Very cool vehicles. Sound great also. You must have had trouble letting go of that vehicle I bet.

To the thread opener, Sorry for the hi-jack. Plyman, I sold the vintage 550 to a gentleman in France about a year after the movie was shot. It was a wonderful car! I sold the car and purchased the boxster for something a little more civilized. I wish I still had both cars today.
The 550 was powered by A VW type 1 built by Jake Raby. Approximately 165 hp and the car was about 1300lbs with nothing but an exhaust collector in the back. Sounded Ferocious!
Best,
Ben
