Default Aftermarket Exhaust

What's the best sounding aftermarket exhaust for a Boxster?

Has anyone replaced there stock exhaust with one of the aftermarket units? Maybe a Borla, B&B, NHP, Speedart, Fabspeed, FVD or Miltek?

I put on a B&B years ago. Much better than stock. Looks good too. Took them 3 hours to put it on and only 20 min for the aftermarket on my NSX. I would definitely recommend an aftermarket.

We have had great reviews from the Borla and the Remus exhaust for this car. PM for more details if you are interested.

What would you recommend knowing this car has a 3.6 liter?

I guess the question now is, what is your end game with this car? What are your preferences in sound?

Remus IMO has a great sound but can be pricey if you build a complete setup. I like the tone of the Remus a little more than the Borla but that is my opinion.

The Borla on the other hand is a great value, offers good sound (should not get you too much attn from the local authorities) and a quality product. This is the main reason we have been getting a lot of positive feedback on their exhaust from RL'ers as well.

I will try and get you some clips....

One concern is the lack of room due to the 3.6 lt., right now I have a Cayman S exhaust system from the headers back and the muffler sticks out like a sore thumb, plus there's no room for the diffusers that belong there. I'll probably keep the headers I have for now and start with a cat-back.

As far as one verses the other in sound, I'd love to hear them side by side, but I'm sure that's difficult. Maybe sound clips would be a place to start...

The original Roock Sport exhaust kept giving me a CEL every 300 miles or so which drove me nuts. Sounded good, but wasn't practical, hence another system.

Looses the "sleeper" effect a little- At least to someone who knows what is supposed to be sticking out the back end.

That has to be a blast to drive!

People who don't know think it's some special system!

And yes, the extra 90 HP makes it a TOTAL BLAST to drive

I'd look at exhausts for the 3.4L caymans and boxsters as the exhaust ports are the same size as your 3.6L. I have a capristo on my boxster with a 3.4L and love it. Sounds amazing and no drone. I actually had drone with the stock muffler.

I haven't heard of a Caprito exhaust, but would love to hear it.

Although these clips will not 100% reflect the sound like in person, hopefully this will provide a good reference. This was a Planet9 study on exhausts. Good luck!

I have used FD Motorsports for exhaust on my 993tt and my Boxster S. They have a shop and I am sure they can work with you to make something fit. Good luck.

That helps, but I've always heard they sound different in person. Thanks for sharing though, it does weed out stock!
