Default Hey track guys - thoughts on 5pt vs 6pt harness

I have an opportunity to get a nice little package deal on seats harnesses etc...The only catch is the harnesses are 5 pointers. If I were buying new one I would obviously jsut get the 6 pointers, but the package deal is really sweet. Are there really hugee safety gains from the 5 to the 6 pointers and will I run into any restrictions at DEs for a 5 pointer? Thanks.

No restrictions. Comfort may be an issue however if the anti sub strap is a single piece as opposed to split in two.

The word "ouch" comes to mind.

HAH! Never even thought about that middle belt. Can anyone with 5 pointers comment on that being a painful issue?

I've run 5pt and 6pt over the years.. 6pts are marginally more comfortable in my experience. I've also used CamLock and latch-Link systems and find neither to be superior.

Is part of the "sweet deal" driven because the belts are out of date or nearly out of date? Can you be sure they haven't already been "stretched" by say, an accident use?

some guys prefer the 5 point because there's less material; it doesn't bunch up while you're driving. i personally like the 6pt. FYI, they don't really crush the boys because you runn them a little loose. now if it actually had to stop you from submarining.......ouch.

Thanks for the input. Seems like 6 is the preffered choice, but the 5 works just fine. Harnesss is 2 yr olds that is coming off a track car going back to stock that has never been in an accident.
