$56 headers???
Has anyone here seen or used these? They're ridiculously cheap and probably are crap, but thought I would ask...

I've run some 75 dollar headers that I got from fleabay for about 3 - 4 years now.
1. they were nicle plated and so far have held up ok
2. they fit tighter then stock so you have to be carefull about cables and hoses.
3. the ones i got had the darn o2 sensors in the most eff'd up location so i bought new bungs and welded new bungs in spots that 'I' felt more appropriate.
4. i only installed the first 2 o2's as those are the ones used for fuel mixture, thus i have a cel light.
bottom line, i like the setup i have and it didn't cost me diddly to do, vs 1200 fabspeed stuff.
Of course, YMMV !!

I've installed a few sets of these for friends in the past. I would say 20% of the time they simply won't seal up, no matter what you do. But at the price you could buy 2 or 3 sets and be sure you get a pair that fits!
Thinner gauge metal and I've had to touch-up some of the welds before but if you're handy they are a reasonable option for the money you'd be out. Sometimes they bolt right up without having to do a thing.

i use a set of ebay headers on my car. they're fine. IMO they work a LOT better w/ my 3.4L, i think on the 2.5L, the pipes are bit too large.
be sure to use the OEM metal gaskets & not the crap they send with the headers.

@Abby - i was referring to the tubing diameter. they have 2" primaries & a 2.25" collector outlet. with a 2.5L engine, these would point to a 'tuned' torque peak of about 14,000RPM.
with the 3.2L motor, a 2" primary supports an 11,000RPM torque peak.
the 3.4L gets us down to about 10,600 RPMs.
the bottom line is that the primaries are a little bit too big to get the best performance out of them. for the 2.5L, i'm guessing the ideal primaries would be in the neighborhood of 1.33".

Cats are after the headers, at least on the non-S cars I've seen. Maybe the 987 has the cats built into the headers? I can't recall off the top of my head.

that's very interesting.
I thought because the cats were embedded in the header, and there's an o2 sensor both before and after the cat, it could sense that it wasn't running with a cat.
Maybe the design locates the sensor out enough so that you don't have to run a defouler modification.
Very tempting . . . . but my autoX class prevents me from doing so.

You can either run the cat-bypass pipes with cats in the headers, or cat-less headers but retain the stock (or aftermarket highflow) 2ndary cats... either way you've got 4 cats back there to work with and have to run the oxygen sensors before and after which ever set of catalytic converters you keep. Either set runs efficent enough to keep your CEL from coming on.
