Default Protoype Race Exhaust

Sneak peak at my new BSR exhaust prototype. Testing will start this weekend at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana on my car.

Full stainless steel, tig welded awesomeness!

Big thanks to Josh at Lucas Industries!

This unit was designed for the early 97-99 2.5L cars that run in the boxster spec racing series. Can be made for the other models if the interest is there.

Updates to follow after the weekend.

Qualified on pole and lead flag to flag in the first race! Picked up 4mph on the banking since last visit to Auto Club Speedway. I'd say it's working so far!

Wow! Very Nice. I'd be interested if you made some for an 01 boxster S. Been thinking about a set of straights, but youve even got the crossover going on!

Yeah we can definately make one for the 01 S. The crossover pipe really changes the tone in a good way! We are going to try a system with two small race mufflers as well that would be slightly more civil for road use.

Could this be used on the street, or would it be way too obnoxious? Interested if only sort of obnoxious in sound for a 2000 S.

This system in it's current form would be considered obnoxious for street use. We have plans to make an almost identical system with two race series (short Burns style) muffler made in house. That may prove usable for the street cars, maybe not the best for DD's though.

I'd be interested in the straights, myself. I'm keeping the cats, so I would think it would only be moderately obnoxious. Neighbors may disagree... If it is terribly obnoxious, I could always save them for track days, or add some race mufflers at a later date.

What diameter pipes are you using?

Did you have to purchase a cayman trans cradel so that you could pass the exhaust tubes streight thru it to the back? I'm thinking my 2000 boxster has a sold stamped steel cross member and looking at your photos it appears yours has cut outs for the exhaust to pass thru.

These particular pipes would delete the cats as they bolt up to the manifolds.

Great pipes for track days if you're inclined to change them out!

The tubing is 2"

No this is the stock, unmodified trans cradle.

I am looking for a setup like that, just cat-back though. I want to keep the cats, just ditch the heavy *** muffler for straight pipes. Looking for a setup like that with a crossover like your pipes.

I would consider a setup like the one you have for trackdays, though.

Looks nice very nice. I have one of Precision Chassis Works exhausts on my Spec Boxster. It has the inline mufflers for a touch of back pressure.
