Depends on the venue as its powered by a stock 2.5 motor. At a momentum course it beat national level F Prepared BMW at San Diego National tour first day out. and lost by only a couple tenths by the end of the weekend.

It gets slaughtered on power courses. Its not too far off from power of a CSP miata. It only makes 185 HP at the wheels currently.

WIth a 3.4 996 motor in it it would be a beast! I just have run out of money this year as I have focused on getting weight out and putting good suspension under the car. It has full monoball suspension, with GT3 control arms on all 4 corners with GT3 bar in front and Tarett in back. One of the best handling cars I have driven and I come out of a 1700 lb 2.5 liter twin plug 914-6. Its way faster than my old 914.

I'm looking for fiberglass doors and fenders because my goal was to get it to 1900 lbs. I'm still about 100 lbs off goal and running out of stuff to pull off the car. With fiberglass doors and fenders I'm pretty sure it will go below 2000 lbs. Then it gets more difficult. I am looking at aluminum steering column and an aluminum fuel tank. I can nearly 30 lbs in wheel weight if I go to 15x7 race wheels with cantilever slicks but I really like the grip of the big 11 inch Avon slicks.

Looks like a fun Boxster.

When are you running it next?

Few pics of recent tear down and stripping of undercoat and other weight reduction schemes. Car runs a single custom made aluminuum tank radiator on passenger side to get weight distribution equalized. All seam sealer removed as well.

If I didnt have to follow SCCA rules for FP AX class I could get the car down to below 1900 lbs but FP doesnt let me trim any chassis related sheet metal. I think I will be at 1950 lbs once I get the fiberglass fenders and doors on the car. My car is a little heavy due to SCCA road race legal cage as well. I need the protection for my occasional hillclimbing with the car. Still I was amazed at how much weight came out of this car! I never thought it would go this low.

Very nice! I like the Tarett drop link extensions in the front.

Did you get your Boxster back for Marina this weekend? I think you still beat me in your Mazda 6 :-)
